Hi, first let me say I’m enjoying the UM7, I’ve never used a low cost IMU before and pleased with how easy it is to get going. My question is about the aux. serial port and connecting to GPS such as the suggested Locosys LS20031 GPS. The LS20031, out of the box, transmits GGA, GLL, GSA, GSV, RMC, VTG packets at 1 Hz, 9600 baud, I believe. Can I set the UM7 aux port baudrate to 9600, connect l, and the internals take care of the rest? I’ve not been able to find documentation on this so any help is appreciated. Also can I run GPS at higher update rates, say 5 or 10 Hz?

    Thanks!

You can change the GPS baud rate, yes. It will be available under the com settings configuration heading in the Serial Interface, if you connect to it with your PC. More details about the actual register settings can be found in the datasheet.

Other than connecting the GPS module and making sure the baud rate is correct, you won’t have to do anything special to tell the UM7 to take care of incoming GPS packets.

Fyi: the ls20031 was 57600 baud out of the box, hence the problem
