Requesting NMEA message

Now that I have finished reading the data sheet, I have a question that was not covered. My application requires that I get Quaternion orientation data in a request-reply fashion. I would like to send a request for a NMEA $PCHRQ packet. Is this even possible using the NMEA text mode? If so, how do I do it? If not, how would I do this in binary mode?

Ok, I have figured out how to request the data in binary mode. I guess that my question comes down to wheather you can request a NMEA packet.
